mselect is proud to have collaborated with Mercy Corps on the Women and Youth-led Peace and Reconciliation Program in Iraq (WYPRI), funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC). This transformative initiative focuses on fostering inclusive, gender-responsive reconciliation mechanisms in the Al Hamdaniya district, Ninewa Governorate—a region deeply affected by conflict, displacement, and the repatriation of internally displaced persons (IDPs).

The WYPRI program aims to empower women and youth as leaders in peacebuilding efforts, promoting social cohesion and addressing critical gender and power dynamics in post-conflict communities.

mselect's Consultancy Contribution to Mercy Corps's WYPRI Program

As part of the WYPRI program, mselect played a vital role in documenting lessons learned and best practices. This contribution supported the program's goals of advancing reconciliation, mediation, and gender-responsive peacebuilding.

Over the course of one month, our team of expert consultants delivered impactful outputs designed to strengthen the WYPRI initiative and its long-term objectives.

Key Outputs Delivered by mselect to Mercy Corps

  1. Workshops Facilitation: mselect facilitated 4 in-person workshops with 90 participants, spanning 22 hours of interactive sessions. These workshops brought together diverse stakeholders to explore reconciliation, mediation, peacebuilding, and participatory decision-making strategies. Participants, including representatives from six Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), gained valuable insights into promoting gender equality and social inclusion in peacebuilding initiatives.

  2. Key Informant Interviews (KIIs): mselect conducted 43 Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) with stakeholders involved in the WYPRI project to uncover valuable insights. These interviews provided valuable qualitative data, highlighting the challenges, successes, and innovative approaches which emerged during the program.

  3. Lessons Learned and Best Practices: The findings from workshops and KIIs were meticulously analysed to identify key lessons and best practices. These were documented in a comprehensive report, showcasing effective reconciliation strategies, successful gender-inclusive approaches, and impactful community engagement models.

  4. Online Orientation for Mercy Corps Staff: To ensure the insights gained were effectively shared, mselect conducted an online orientation for Mercy Corps staff. This session presented the lessons learned, best practices, and recommendations for future peacebuilding projects.
