Course Overview
This "Data Collection and Sampling Techniques" course is designed to equip participants with essential skills for gathering and analyzing data in research. It covers various data collection methods, including surveys and interviews, alongside key sampling techniques such as random, stratified, and cluster sampling. By the end of the course, participants will be able to select appropriate sampling strategies, minimize errors and biases, and apply these techniques effectively in their research projects.
Who should attend the course
To ensure participants can fully benefit from the course, they should meet the following prerequisites:
Basic Knowledge of Research Methods: Foundational understanding of research design: Concepts such hypotheses, variables, and research questions
Familiarity with Data Types: A basic understanding of quantitative and qualitative data types and common research sources
Experience with Surveys and Interviews: Some prior experience conducting/designing surveys, interviews, or any data collection activity is recommended
Basic Statistical Knowledge: Familiarity with mean, median, standard deviation, and basic probability
Comfort with Analytical Thinking: Participants should be able to engage in critical thinking and problem-solving, as the course will involve evaluating case studies and applying sampling methods in various research scenarios
Basic Computer Skills: Proficiency in using basic software like Microsoft Word and Excel, or statistical tools (optional), to manage and analyze data is recommended
