Job Purpose
Supervise and implement agricultural operations and follow-up to ensure the improvement of agricultural production through the application of agricultural knowledge and modern techniques, ensuring the achievement of the highest quality and quantity of agricultural production and sustainable natural resources.
Key Responsibilities
Agricultural Planning and Implementation:
- Design comprehensive agricultural plans based on soil analysis, climate conditions, and crop needs, aligning with company goals, and working towards executing these plans
- Determine the types of crops and seeds to be planted based on local environmental conditions
- Identify the most suitable methods for land exploitation in agricultural areas
Crop Management:
- Monitor the growth stages of crops and guide irrigation quantities, fertilization, and suitable agricultural techniques based on the growth stage and surrounding conditions
- Determine planting and harvest schedules based on the agricultural season's timeline and ensure the availability of necessary machinery and equipment
Environmental Monitoring and Management:
- Monitor agricultural environmental conditions, such as soil, water and weather and use modern technology to analyse these conditions
- Analyze weather and climate data to determine the most favourable conditions for farming
Natural Resource Management:
- Develop strategies for optimal use of water and agricultural land
- Oversee irrigation methods and sustainable farming techniques to ensure crop quality and quantity while reducing water wastage
Production and Storage Supervision:
- Ensure the high quality of produced crops
- Oversee the harvesting, transportation, and storage (if applicable) processes, ensuring they meet quality standards, and that crop safety is maintained
Pest and Disease Management:
- Monitor crop health and manage agricultural diseases and pests using safe environmental methods
- Ensure the optimal use of pesticides and agricultural chemicals
Research and Development:
- Participate in agricultural research to improve production techniques and crop quality
- Test new crop varieties, fertilizers, and nutrients in line with the company’s vision
Farmers and Workforce Management:
- Ensure the availability of the required workforce, considering their needs, timing and task nature
- Guide farmers and teams on the effective use of agricultural equipment and tools
Reports and Statistics:
- Prepare periodic reports on the progress of agricultural operations and production
- Monitor agricultural work performance using key performance indicators and provide the necessary analysis
Training and Guidance:
Train agricultural teams on best farming practices.
Government Relations:
- Complete necessary government transactions (if any) related to agricultural land, licenses and permits to ensure smooth operations and prevent potential losses
- Follow up with relevant government authorities to ensure the sale of agricultural products or the acquisition of seeds and fertilizers
- Provide any required documentation (such as samples) to government entities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering or a related field
- Practical experience in agriculture (preferably 4 years or more)
- Knowledge of modern agricultural technologies, such as precision farming and sustainable agriculture
- Strong analytical skills in soil, water and plant science
- Proficiency in using agricultural software and advanced technological tools
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Organizational and time management skills
- Ability to adapt to environmental and seasonal changes
- Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
- This role may require working on agricultural sites or farms, which may involve occasional travel
- The ability to work in diverse climatic conditions, such as high temperatures or humidity
