Barman/ Barista

mselect is hiring a Barman/Barista for a hospitality and catering client in Erbil. Candidates must have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience. Fluency in English is a must.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests and make them feel comfortable
• Learn menu items and be able to describe them appropriately to guests
• Take beverage and food orders
• Mix ingredients, for instance; soda, sugar, bitters or fruit juice
• Collect cash for beverages or drinks served and record sales
• Maintain record and control of bar stock and arrange supplies
• Mix drinks, water and other components to get ready cocktails and other drinks
• Clean glasses and additional utensils
• Sanitize ice tanks, coolers, and other bar tools
• Serve beverages and food
• Place bottled merchandise and glasses to make a smart display
• Clean bar area and wash glassware
• Serve snacks to patrons seated at the bar
• Slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks
• Prepare and serve hot or cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, or teas
• Check-in with guests to ensure that everything is going well
• Deliver guest’s bill and thank them for dining at the bar
• Work with other servers and be a team player
• Present menus to customers and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request
• Complete side duties as required from supervisor
• Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, or heating equipment to ensure proper functioning
• May work overtime when needed and assist the workload of others

Qualification

• Speaks English (Arabic or Kurdish is a plus)
• Ability to be on feet for long periods of time
• Professional and friendly (Even in tough situations)
• Team player
• Ability to lift heavy trays filled with glassware/food
• Basic math skills
• Great attention to detail
• Communicate in a professional manner with guests
• Ability to adapt to different personalities of guests and coworkers without losing focus
• Understand products and services and understand customer needs clearly
• Multitasker
