mselect is looking to hire a Business Development Manager for a healthcare client in Saudi Arabia (Riyadh or Jeddah). Candidates must have a minimum of 12 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with a commercial background. Fluency in English is a must.
 
ROLE OBJECTIVE
Identifying the sales leads, spotting new opportunities, developing and diversifying business through establishing rapid growth strategies and plans within KSA, having an in-depth knowledge of business development products and value propositions through identifying and mapping business strengths and customer needs, researching business opportunities and viable income streams, following industry trends in Saudi Arabia. Supports management by providing analysis for evaluating new business opportunities such as in/out-licensing, collaborative research and development agreements, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions in KSA.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Customer:
  • Retaining and increasing the relationships with existing clients by X% per year
  • Build a network of senior-level contacts across target organizations
  • Pro-actively hunts for target organizations and establishes communications with those businesses
  • Responsibility for alliance relationship management post major partnering deal
Finance:
  • Support in identifying, evaluating and pursuing primarily in-licensing opportunities for the Company in KSA
  • Scouting/generating leads for new assets/molecules/compounds in line with the Therapeutic Area Focus of the Company as well as the Country Focus, through various sources
  • Developing/Creating/Co-Owning compelling Business Cases with Marketing and other functional teams, driving cross-functional due diligence, gaining management approval, successfully negotiating key commercial terms and closing the contracts in an effective and timely manner
  • Determines new opportunities by analysing business needs
  • Forecasts long and short-range market potential
  • Search for and establish business collaboration/ new business ventures with domestic and international partners
Product Development:
  • Develops and delivers business plans by carrying out research, formulating market analysis and delivering accurate business reports
  • Keeps up to date with new & changing market trends, intellectual property laws, and the regulatory legislation
  • Follows up on registrations and licenses
  • Performing portfolio analysis when needed
People:
  • Achieving NLT x% of team engagement survey
  • Set and achieve a deputy development plan in the first year
  • Achieve 100% of the team development plan each quarter
Operations Excellence:
  • Constant communication, continuous improvements, and workforce engagement to sustain growth and keep the company ahead of the competitive curve
Self-Development:
  • Increase professional industry knowledge and training

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Science
  • A Master’s in Business Administration/Marketing or equivalent is a must, having a master’s from a world-ranking school is a big plus
  • 12 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with a commercial background, should have at least 5 years of strong exposure in in-licensing and business development in KSA
  • Good communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Should have a strategic, commercial mind-set

  • Should have the ability to set & negotiate contractual commercial terms
