JOB PURPOSE
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Chemical Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will support the chemical engineering team in various tasks, including sampling, chemical handling, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols. This role is vital in maintaining the operational efficiency of our plant while prioritizing health and safety standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Chemical Engineers: Collaborate with chemical engineers and chemists by understanding and following their instructions and specifications accurately, this includes executing experiments and assisting with data collection and analysis
- Sampling: Conduct sampling of water and steam at various designated points throughout the facility, ensure samples are collected systematically and in compliance with standard operating procedures
- Chemical Handling: Perform chemical handling tasks, including the filling and management of chemical dosing tanks, ensure that chemical solutions are prepared accurately and efficiently, following prescribed guidelines
- Plant Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized work environment within the plant, this includes regular cleaning of work areas, proper storage of chemicals, and adherence to waste disposal procedures
- Health and Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper handling and storage of chemicals, participate in safety training sessions and remain informed about safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all team members
REQUIREMENTS
- Educational Background: A degree or diploma in Chemistry or a related field is preferred Graduates of Chemical Technician programs are highly encouraged to apply
- Language Proficiency: Ability to read and write in English and Kurdish is essential for understanding instructions, safety protocols, and documentation
- Experience: Previous experience in a plant environment, especially in chemical handling, is advantageous Familiarity with chemical processes and operations will be beneficial
- Safety Knowledge: Strong knowledge of chemical safety protocols and practices is required This includes understanding the properties of chemicals and the appropriate measures to take in case of spills or accidents
- Attention to Detail: The ability to follow instructions precisely and maintain focus on tasks for extended periods is crucial to ensure quality and safety in operations
- Team Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team environment and support fellow employees in achieving plant objectives
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot issues related to chemical handling and processing, contributing to operational improvements
- Organizational Skills: Effective time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines consistently
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift to 25 kg as part of regular job responsibilities, including moving chemicals and equipment as needed
