KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Mission
- Reports to the Construction Manager
- Be fully aware of EPC Contract, subcontracts for civil/mechanical works and various Project Agreements and manage the civil/mechanical construction stakeholders effectively in line with the contracts
- Ensures the EPC Contractor's and subcontractors' compliance with all the site HSE rules and regulations at every stage of the civil/mechanical construction
- Ensures the EPC Contractor's and subcontractors' compliance in executing the civil/mechanical works with the approved Method Statements/ Risk Analyses and regulations at every stage of construction
- Organizes the integrated site team to supervise the EPC Contractor's construction progress, quality of the works, including commissioning until COD (ie, inspection witnessing, clearing punch list items, issuing civil/mechanical completion certificates, turnover packages readiness, checking and implementing commissioning procedures)
- Provides input into the weekly site meetings, progress and/or discipline technical meetings with EPC Contractor
- Monitors and checks the EPC Contractors' work across each discipline to ensure the timely delivery of the works
- Confirms and provides the PD with the inputs for the monthly progress reports, relevant information to check EPC Contractor invoices
- Verification of the site logbook managed by the EPC Contractor
- In cooperation with the schedule engineer, and in relation to the civil/mechanical activities:
- Follows up on the actual progress versus planned values, ensures that the critical activities are executed according to schedule, and looks for opportunities to create margin within the critical path
- Analyses the works and imposes optimizations to the Contractor when possible
- Evaluates and approves all recovery plan activities related to civil/mechanical works for the delayed activities to secure the overall schedule
- Supports the schedule engineer in drafting the progress reports for the PD/EMD
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in civil/mechanical engineering or similar
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction of energy projects
- Experience in photovoltaic plants, renewable projects or HV substations is a must
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification is preferred
- EPC background and experience
- Experience with projects valued at over $50 million
- A minimum of 3 construction projects completed
- Knowledgeable of international standards and 'best practices' for construction
- Knowledgeable of environmental legislation/regulations and good industry practice related to construction works
- Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint or similar
- Fluency in English and Arabic is a must
