Job Purpose
- Provide support to the Facilities Management/Infrastructure Projects Team in all aspects related to Construction projects
- Responsibilities include assisting with the design, designing, developing, and maintaining electrical and instrumentation systems to ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance with industry standards. Duties include troubleshooting, testing, and managing installations, preparing technical documentation, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to support project execution and maintenance activities. Key focus areas include system reliability, cost-efficiency, and adherence to safety regulations
- Involvement will extend to every stage of a project from the feasibility stage through to the construction and handover of the facilities. Projects will predominantly include industrial facilities including offices, welfare buildings, canteens, kitchen accommodation blocks and control rooms
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in establishing the team and department requirements, leading to the development of Terms of References and designs, specifications documentation and schematics related to E&I systems
- Ensure the appropriate instruments, sensors and control systems are selected and based on the process requirements
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures for electrical and instrumentation systems
- Work with engineers, consultants and contractors on Programmable Logic Control (PLC), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Distributed Control System (DCS) programming to automate the process
- Stay updated and evaluate advancements in electrical and instrumentation technologies and provide recommendations on upgrades to existing systems
- Plan, coordinate and manage E&I aspects of projects from initiation through to completion
- Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, process, and automation engineers
- Liaise with suppliers to procure electrical and instrumentation components
- Oversee the installation of electrical systems, instrumentation, and control panels to ensure alignment with specifications and quality standards
- Conduct functional tests and calibrations for instruments and control systems
- Lead commissioning activities and troubleshoot issues during system start-up
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, and certifications
- Generate detailed progress reports and provide updates to stakeholders
- Develop maintenance procedures for electrical and instrumentation equipment
- Diagnose and resolve faults in electrical circuits, PLCs, DCS, and field instruments
- Ensure reliability and availability of E&I systems through proactive maintenance
- Maintain a record of spare parts, tools, and inventory requirements
- Understand the implications of health and safety regulations implemented by the Business
- Provide post-occupancy advice, facilities management services and life cycle costing advice
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field
- Professional certifications (e.g. EIT, PE, or relevant industry certifications) are an advantage
- Must have a firm understanding of electrical and instrumentation engineering within industrial settings (e.g. commercial, residential buildings, manufacturing, power plants)
- Hands-on experience with PLCs, SCADA, DCS systems, and field instruments
- Proven expertise in the design, installation, and commissioning of E&I systems
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation devices, and control systems
- Proficient in AutoCAD, ETAP, EPLAN, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Ability to liaise professionally and competently with stakeholders and general contractors
- Familiarity with international standards (e.g. IEC, IEEE, NEC, API) and safety protocols
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for electrical and control systems
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
- Problem-solving mindset and adaptability to dynamic environments
- Fluent in both spoken and written English
- Enthusiastic to learn and develop
- Knowledge of industrial networking protocols (e.g. Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP)
- Familiarity with condition monitoring systems and predictive maintenance
- Experience with energy efficiency and optimization projects
