Job Summary:
The Financial Consultant plays a crucial role in the establishment of the financial structure for a new company. This role requires a seasoned financial expert with a deep understanding of financial management and strategic planning. The Financial Consultant will work closely with the company's management team to develop and implement financial strategies that ensure the company's financial health and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy Development:
- Collaborate with the management team to define the company's financial objectives and long-term financial strategy
- Assess the company's financial needs, risks, and opportunities
- Develop a comprehensive financial plan that aligns with the company's goals and industry best practices
- Create detailed financial models to forecast the company's financial performance, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Conduct sensitivity analysis and scenario planning to evaluate the impact of various financial decisions on the company's future
- Analyse and recommend appropriate capital structures, funding options, and investment strategies
- Assist in raising capital through various means, such as equity, debt, or grants
- Establish and manage the budgeting process to monitor financial performance against targets
- Regularly update financial forecasts and provide insights to support decision-making
- Identify financial risks and develop risk mitigation strategies
- Implement risk management policies and procedures to safeguard the company's financial stability
- Prepare and present financial reports to the management team and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
- Monitor and manage the company's cash flow to meet operational and strategic needs
- Optimize working capital and cash management practices
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations
- Coordinate financial audits and liaise with external auditors when necessary
- Implement and maintain financial systems, tools, and software to streamline financial operations and reporting
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Proven experience in financial management, ideally within a start-up or newly established company
- Strong knowledge of financial analysis, modelling, and forecasting
- Excellent understanding of capital markets and fundraising strategies
- Proficiency with financial software and tools
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance and reporting requirements
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA)
- Experience in financial consultancy or advisory roles
