mselect is looking to hire a GIS Surveyor for an international energy client in Basrah, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience with good skills in the topography domain and geospatial tools. Fluency in English and Arabic, French is a must.

Job Purpose
The primary objective of this operationally oriented position is to manage all topographic and survey operations. The surveyor is also responsible for maintaining the equipment in operational condition, and managing the data generated by his/her mission. He/she manages job risk assessments and permits to work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage topography and survey operations safely and in accordance with the various regulations in place
  • Ensure the proper level of confidentiality of the information acquired, processed and managed

Key Activities

Safety and confidentiality:
Adhere to and promote the HSE behaviours of the affiliate, within its area of activity and responsibility Acquires, processes, interprets, and manages confidential information including those in line with the subsidiary's liability support database.

Operations:
  • Liaise with Project teams to identify all topographic and survey activities and operations conducted by Project contractors that require topographic techniques (including but not limited to development, environment studies, site monitoring, drilling, dimension control, installation/lay-down, mapping)
  • Supervise and validate positioning activities relative to these operations (site surveys, pre-lay, as-laid, as-built surveys…)

QA/QC:
  • Review Contractor's specifications, procedures and method statements relative to topographic or survey activities and ensure their effective implementation
  • Perform QA/QC of survey and topographic results
  • Support survey-grade drone operations at the site by providing supervision and expertise in ground control, trajectory computation, bundle block adjustment and validating final products (3d model, orthophoto) accuracy
  • Perform geodetic, topographic, and GNSS calculations by use of appropriate survey software

Maintenance:
Take care of the company-owned survey and topographic equipment at the site to ensure that it always remains fully functional and at optimum condition for use the surveyor engineer plans and undertakes routine maintenance of the equipment used, and manages the firmware, ensuring that is always in perfect working order and ready for use by other team members or in case of emergency.

Data:
  • He/she manages the analysis, and carries out processing and interpretation He/she handles the data storage, publication and sharing with end-users
  • The surveyor must have a good knowledge of geospatial tools to manage their missions and the data they acquire as effectively as possible Use and master software and equipment for topography, positioning, geodesy, GIS and mapping

Skill:
Developing and maintaining a high level of skill in topography and carrying out missions.

Requirements
  • Degree: MSc in Topography (or equivalent)
  • Languages: Fluent in English, Arabic, French shall be a must also
  • Work experience: 10 years minimum with a good skill in the topography domain and geospatial tools
