Job Purpose
The Head Chef oversees all kitchen operations, from menu planning and inventory management to food preparation, cooking, and staff supervision. This includes upholding food safety and quality standards, and ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly. The menu features sandwiches, daily specials, and Western-inspired dishes, with an emphasis on introducing fresh and creative culinary concepts to keep the offerings innovative and appealing.
Key Responsibilities
Recipe Development:
- Create and develop a menu, focusing on specialty items
- Innovate and experiment with new ingredients and techniques to create unique and appealing platters
Ensure that all products are of consistent quality and presentation.
Quality Control:
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and hygiene in the kitchen
- Conduct regular quality checks on ingredients and finished products
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Ensure that all ingredients are stored properly and used efficiently to minimize waste
- Work closely with kitchen staff to coordinate the production and delivery
- Provide training and lead kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations
- Interact with customers to gather feedback and tailor products to meet their preferences
- Participate in events, tastings, and promotions to showcase speciality platters
- Assist in planning a new menu, ensuring a balance of traditional and innovative items
- Stay updated with industry trends and incorporate them into the menu
Requirements
Education:
A culinary degree or diploma from a recognized culinary school.
Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in a professional kitchen
- Experience in developing and implementing new recipes
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
