Job Summary
To manage and optimize the inbound logistics operations by coordinating with suppliers, overseeing shipment bookings, and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of raw materials and packaging materials to our facilities. This role involves meticulous handling of all logistical details, including customs clearance and financial reporting, to uphold stringent delivery schedules and cost parameters in line with the company's strategic objectives.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Inbound Logistics Management:
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain (SC) team to review and confirm orders with suppliers
- Monitor supplier compliance to ensure adherence to scheduled shipping dates.
- Strategically negotiate freight rates to optimize cost efficiency
- Identify and implement the most efficient shipping methods and courier routes.
- Coordinate scheduling, manage logistics workflows and oversee the processing of all shipping documentation
- Ensure accurate and secure archiving of digital and physical shipping documents, including manifests, invoices, and bills of lading
- Prepare materials list and coordinate with the Government Relations Officer (GRO) to obtain import tax exemption and free customs duties
- Manage forwarders to maintain competitive freight rates and reduce/avoid demurrage charges.
- Conduct periodic reviews of logistics contracts and supplier terms to ensure favorable terms.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives that reduce logistics expenses without compromising service quality
- Update and maintain comprehensive logistics reports that track shipment metrics, costs, and timelines
- Regularly update management and relevant departments on logistics status and any issues encountered
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company reporting requirements
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams to align logistics operations with broader company goals
- Support team members in achieving logistics-related tasks and objectives
- Foster a cooperative environment that encourages open communication and efficient workflow
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent
- 3-5 years in a logistics role within the freight forwarding, customs clearing, or shipping company
- Good Interpersonal skills and ability to work under challenging circumstances with multicultural team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and concisely
- Attention to detail and good reasoning skills to spot errors quickly and report them to relevant staff
- Strong negotiation skills
- Understanding of cross-cultural/ global issues
- Familiarity with Import / Export procedures and documentations
- Good knowledge of port operations & tax clearance etc.
