Job purpose
A systems administrator lead is an essential IT professional who is responsible for providing a reliable work environment for an organization—from the server and network performance to security and all other areas that keep an organization’s IT systems running smoothly. Systems administrator leads must have an in-depth understanding of computer software, hardware, and networks and are highly skilled, valuable members of an organization
At a high level, system administrator lead is responsible for system performance, design, reliability, and the security and optimization of computer systems
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineering and Provisioning:
- Engineering of related solutions for various project and operational needs.
- Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
- Install and configure systems such as support infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications
- Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
- Contribute to and maintain system standards
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for systems administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale
- A systems administrator lead manages all computer server operations that include performance, availability, software maintenance, capacity planning, recoverability, and problem resolution
- A systems administrator lead also troubleshoots and resolves problems related to email, mobile devices, internet issues, and document management, and ensures that security measures are in place for all users and departments in an organization
- A systems administrator lead is responsible for the supervision of systems administration staff, developing work assignments, and supervising projects
- Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, print services, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly
- Provide second-level support to the IT helpdesk team, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying the completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off-site as necessary
- Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
- Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary
- Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs
- Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures
- Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
- Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required
REQUIREMENTS
Qualification:
- BSc. Degree in Computer engineering, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field
- Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- ITIL v4 foundation
- Experience in operating systems such as Windows, Linux, z/OS, and enterprise server applications; thorough knowledge of networking technologies, PCs, laptops, and mobile devices. Thorough knowledge of Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/Internet Protocol (IP), and related internet services; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and related software
- Experience administering server-side technology and networked computing systems in an enterprise environment
- Experience in data protection (back up, restore, replication)
- Experienced in supporting project teams in all phases of development and the development lifecycle
- Experience in large-scale migrations of projects and data
- 6 years of systems experience required
- Fluent in English (verbal and written)
- Arabic

- Coordination of Work – Ability to establish and implement effective administrative programs and procedures. Ability to plan and organize daily work routine. Establishes priorities for the completion of work in accordance with sound time-management methodology. Performs a broad range of supervisory responsibilities over others
