Job Purpose
The Landscaping PMC - Residence Senior Engineer will oversee and manage all landscaping and external works within residential projects. This position ensures that landscaping activities align with project design specifications, budgets, and timelines while adhering to quality, safety, and environmental compliance standards. As the primary technical advisor, the Senior Engineer will collaborate with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to address challenges, resolve issues, and facilitate seamless project delivery. A key focus will be on enhancing the aesthetic and functional value of residential landscapes, creating sustainable and visually appealing environments for residents.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Roles:
- Serve as the lead authority for all landscaping-related matters within the residential project scope
- Ensure landscaping works align with overarching project goals, including design, functionality, and sustainability objectives
- Act as a liaison between the client, contractors, and internal teams to facilitate effective communication and resolve project issues
- Drive the integration of advanced technologies, such as smart irrigation systems and eco-friendly materials, to enhance project outcomes in line with client requirements
- Advocate for continuous improvement in landscaping practices, standards, and methodologies
- Manage project timelines and resource allocation for landscaping works as the Project Management Consultant (PMC)
- Collaborate with contractors to develop contingency plans for potential risks or delays
- Provide input on contract project budgets to ensure cost efficiency for the client without compromising quality
- Evaluate detailed contractor landscaping designs, including planting schemes, hardscape layouts, and irrigation plans, ensuring adherence to specifications
- Ensure designs are practical and sustainable, and enhance the aesthetic and functional appeal of the residential environment
- Conduct feasibility studies to validate design concepts and construction methods as per client directions
- Perform routine site inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with project and client specifications
- Identify and address discrepancies in construction quality or design implementation
- Oversee soil preparation, plant selection, and installation processes to ensure optimal outcomes
- Ensure all landscaping works comply with local, regional, and international regulations
- Promote environmental sustainability by incorporating native plants, efficient irrigation systems, and eco-friendly construction practices
- Monitor and minimize environmental impacts throughout the project lifecycle
- Prequalify and select contractors and suppliers based on project and client requirements
- Review contractor submissions, including method statements, materials, and shop drawings
- Address contractor concerns and mediate conflicts to maintain project momentum
- Monitor material usage, labour allocation, and project expenditures
- Propose cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or timelines
- Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials to avoid project delays
- Identify potential risks in landscaping works, including weather-related challenges and design feasibility
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies with client approval to ensure project success
- Document and resolve unforeseen issues promptly to minimize the impact
- Provide detailed progress reports and updates to project stakeholders
- Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, changes, and approvals
- Ensure contractors prepare and hand over documents and as-built drawings upon project completion
- Train and mentor junior engineers and team members on best practices in landscaping
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment

- Research and recommend new landscaping technologies and trends
- Suggest smart systems, such as automated irrigation or weather-responsive solutions, for client consideration

- Evaluate completed projects to identify lessons learned and implement them in future endeavours
- Propose and implement new techniques or technologies to improve landscaping efficiency and aesthetic appeal
- Continuously monitor landscaping expenditures to ensure they remain within the allocated budget
- Identify potential cost overruns early and report if they may affect client budgets
- Negotiate with contractors and suppliers for competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards
- Design and implement efficient irrigation systems that reduce water consumption and maintenance costs
- Monitor the performance of installed irrigation systems and recommend adjustments as needed
- Introduce water harvesting and recycling systems to support sustainable landscaping practices
- Integrate climate-resilient landscaping practices to mitigate the impact of extreme weather events
- Select plant species and materials that can withstand local weather conditions and seasonal changes
- Develop contingency plans to protect landscaping works during adverse weather conditions, such as storms or droughts
- Maintain an organized archive of all project-related documents, including drawings, contracts, and inspection reports
- Ensure all documentation complies with organizational and legal requirements for future reference
- Develop detailed as-built drawings and reports for client handovers and future maintenance planning
- Oversee the development of public spaces, such as playgrounds, walkways, and recreational areas, as part of the landscaping scope
- Suggest features to enhance accessibility and usability for all residents, including children and individuals with disabilities
- Ensure public spaces integrate seamlessly with residential landscaping for a cohesive community aesthetic as directed by the client
- Oversee contractor waste management plans for landscaping activities, ensuring proper disposal of debris and unused materials
- Promote the reuse and recycling of materials, such as mulch from tree trimmings or crushed concrete for pathways
- Coordinate with environmental agencies to ensure compliance with waste management regulations
- Design landscapes that reflect local culture, heritage, or client-specific themes
- Incorporate unique architectural and artistic elements into landscaping projects to enhance their aesthetic appeal
- Ensure landscaping works are adaptable to the cultural needs of the residential community
- Develop response plans for potential emergencies, such as flooding or pest infestations, affecting landscaped areas
- Coordinate with contractors to quickly address and mitigate damage caused by unforeseen events
- Assess and restore landscaping works to their original quality post-disaster
- Engage with residents and clients post-completion to gather feedback on landscaping works
- Address concerns or suggestions to improve customer satisfaction
- Use feedback to refine processes and enhance the quality of future projects
- Adhere to Aldar Estates and client’s health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and relevant legal requirements
- Familiarize yourself with updates and ensure compliance with HSE policies
- Stay informed of changes introduced by the HSE department
- Comply with Aldar Estates and Information Security Policies
- Fulfil information security responsibilities and ensure those handling sensitive information have completed Security Awareness Training
- Report security incidents to IT ServiceDesk or InfoSec and maintain confidentiality of user accounts and passwords
Requirements
Education & Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Environmental Science, or a related field is typically required
- A master’s degree in landscape architecture, Environmental Management, or Construction Management is an added advantage
- Minimum of 7–10 years of relevant experience in landscaping, project management, or a similar role, with a focus on residential or large-scale development projects
- A proven track record of managing complex landscaping projects from design to completion, ensuring compliance with quality, time, and budget constraints
