mselect is looking to hire a Legal Counsel for a dynamic global media brand in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in media/ intellectual property sector. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.

JOB OBJECTIVE
The Legal Counsel provides legal advice and expertise across all areas of broadcasting, digital media business, and across various locations and Bureaus. The ideal candidate should possess intensive knowledge of the media laws across all publication platforms together with having strong IP and commercial drafting experience. Should offer expert legal counsel on matters related to media and broadcasting operations, including but not limited to content creation, licensing, distribution, and regulatory compliance. Should advise on the implementation of key legal processes such as legal drafting, negotiations, and contracts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide strategic legal advice and support to the business on all legal matters
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating various contracts and agreements in relation to the business (including services, licensing, distribution and partnerships)
  • Managing data privacy compliance, protecting and managing IP assets, including copyrights and trademarks
  • Monitor legal risks and ensure compliance with the terms of the contracts, relevant laws, and regulations
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risks
  • Work closely with external legal counsel and advise management on legal issues related to transactions, disputes, and litigation

REQUIREMENTS
  • Ms. or BSc in Law. Bar certification will be a plus
  • 5+years post-qualification experience in media & intellectual property sector
  • Strong negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills with meticulous attention to details
  • Knowledge of the regulatory framework in the UAE and wider region
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Experience of commercial contract drafting and negotiation
  • Proven track record in managing intellectual property portfolios and handling IP matters
  • Fluency in Arabic and English
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
