mselect is looking for a Mechanical Engineer for a manufacturing client in Baghdad, Iraq. Candidates must have at least 3 years of relevant experience. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.


JOB PURPOSE
Contribute to building a profitable and sustainable business for Cigarette Factory in Iraq. To deliver and achieve maintenance and spare parts targets taking into consideration BCF processes, policies and budget.  

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Operations/ Professional/ Business
  • Work within a team in the secondary manufacturing department to maintain, upgrade and rebuild manufacturing equipment and all mechanical installations to provide a high level of cost-effective mechanical support and service to the factory
  • Attend mechanical breakdowns to ensure that the uptime of the machines is optimized, manufacturing of cigarettes is according to the production plan and within the defined quality parameters
  • Ensure appropriate usage of ERP system, maintenance plan, task list, maintenance orders, equipment and spare parts data are regularly updated on the system
  • Effective adherence to maintenance schedules
  • Execution of maintenance/upgrade plans in most cost-effective approach
  • Ensure commitment to mechanical maintenance deadlines
  • Effective implementation of mechanical and spare parts related policies and procedures and as advised by Line Manager
  • Ensure availability of manufacturer programs, software and manuals. Periodically backup of programs
  • To Contact OEM manufacturer (equipment manufacturer) when necessary
  • Ensure spare parts inventory is kept to minimum
  • Create and maintain Inbound delivery for spare parts
  • Create and maintain outbound delivery for spare parts
  • Spare parts inventory stock count of quarterly bases
  • Create request to change, extend or update spare parts material to Factory
  • Using OEM manufacturer web shops and ERP reporting tool to check spare parts availability and orders if needed

Management
  • Review progress against operational plan targets
  • Implementation of agreed plans on time and in full
  • Adherence to all internal governance, standards, processes and policies
  • Performance objectives for self
  • To support implementation of Operations projects requiring engineering involvement

Leadership
  • Help in development of engineering capabilities
  • Support the Engineering & Site Services/ EHS Executive in the development of the related plans
  • Development plan and a career path for self
  • Ensure adherence to BCF processes

Relationship
  • Close working relationship with the Operations’ team
  • Engagement with other functions to drive the business results
  • Liaise with Supply Chain to ensure an uninterrupted and efficient operation
  • Maintain a good working relationship with Operations’ team
  • Share best practice internally

Innovation
  • Contribution to the development & implementation of Engineering
  • Recommendations made to optimize work flow

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Functional Success Criteria:
  • Bachelor (A degree, Mechanical Engineering with at least 3 years relevant experience)    
  • Intermediate (Strategic thinker with a good analytical capability)
  • Advance (Experience in Protos 90ER Maker & Focke-350S Packer)
  • Intermediate (Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to build lasting business relationships with internal stakeholders)
  • Intermediate (Sound planning and organisational skills)
  • Advanced (Ability to acquire knowledge quickly)       
  • Intermediate (Computer literate / especially in Excel)
  • Intermediate (Team player)                           
  • advanced (Fluent in Arabic and English)
