Job Purpose
As an operations manager, your role is vital for ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of various operational processes within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency
- Collaborate with senior management to set organizational goals and objectives
- Manage the complete logistics process, from shipment’s order receipt to delivery
- Optimize transportation routes and modes to minimize costs and maximize efficiency
- Coordinate with the whole supply chain participants in the process like agents, Shippers, vendors, and the company’s operation teams to ensure timely and accurate deliveries
- Establish and enforce quality control standards
- Implement measures to identify and resolve any quality issues
- Manage the whole operations department
- Recruit and train staff; Foster a positive and collaborative work environment
- Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members
- Updating job owners (sales team) about shipments’ status
- Efficient communication with the agents, shippers, brokers etc
- Ensure effective communications with the departments of Sales and Finance
- Implement and leverage technology solutions for improved tracking and visibility
- Explore and adopt new technologies that enhance operational efficiency
- Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop contingency plans
- Monitor external factors such as regulatory changes and economic trends that may impact operations
- Develop and manage budgets for operational expenses
- Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or efficiency
- Supervising the Customer Service teams at all stations
- Work closely with customer service teams to ensure customer satisfaction
- Address and resolve customer complaints or issues related to operations
- Regularly review and analyze operational processes to identify areas for improvement
- Implement changes to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Stay informed about changes in regulations and update processes accordingly
- Generate and analyze reports on key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Present regular updates to senior management on the performance of logistics operations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in operations management, with a focus on logistics
- Proven experience leading and managing teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in using logistics software and other relevant technology tools
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives
