Project Manager

mselect is looking to hire a Project Manager for a construction client in Basrah, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 5-8 years of experience in construction project management, preferably in residential or commercial construction. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.

Job Purpose
The Project Manager will oversee and manage construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and budget. The role requires effective team coordination, adherence to safety and quality standards, and fostering relationships with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and Execution:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Coordinate and manage all project phases, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closing
Team Management:
  • Lead project teams, including engineers, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Assign tasks, set performance expectations, and monitor progress
  • Resolve conflicts and ensure team collaboration to achieve project goals
Budget and Cost Control:
  • Prepare, monitor, and manage project budgets
  • Review and approve project expenses and invoices
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality
Risk and Issue Management:
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Address issues promptly to minimize impact on the project timeline and budget
Quality and Compliance:
  • Ensure adherence to construction standards, regulations, and codes
  • Conduct quality checks and site inspections to maintain high-quality outputs
Stakeholder Management:
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, consultants, and stakeholders
  • Provide regular project updates, reports, and presentations
  • Manage client expectations and address concerns effectively
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
  • Enforce compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies
  • Conduct regular site safety audits and promote a safety-first culture
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, drawings, and reports
  • Prepare project status reports for senior management and stakeholders

Requirements
  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; PMP certification or equivalent is a plus
  • Experience: Minimum 5-8 years of experience in construction project management, preferably in residential or commercial construction; Proven track record of managing projects of similar scale and complexity
  • Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities; ERP systems experience or knowledge; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera); Solid understanding of construction contracts, specifications, and regulations; Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): On-time delivery of projects; Adherence to project budgets; Quality and safety compliance metrics; Client satisfaction scores
