Job Summary
This is the Advanced Skills position for the Senior Mechanical Engineer within the Facilities Engineering Team. An experienced professional applying high level of proficiency of mechanical engineering knowledge of the job area typically obtained through a combination of advanced education and relevant industrial work experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing engineering review of proposed new equipment designs to assess statutory compliance, code compliance, operability, reliability, ease of maintenance, and availability of replacement parts
- Designing, participating, directly supervising, inspecting, and guiding the installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Participate in the investigation and analysis of mechanical topics for the purposes of root cause analysis, reliability, maintenance, operability, and commercial drivers
- Authors and reviews scopes of work and technical specifications for tenders, service orders and activities for both routine operations and company projects This may be entire scopes of work and/or sections relevant to skill set of mechanical engineering
- Performs inspections, design reviews and guidance as appropriate to both Company and vendor-supplied or proposed equipment
- Perform technical investigation & root cause analysis to enhance Company safety, reliability, and operability
- Immediate familiarity with basic requirements for ASME and API standards for piping, pressure vessels, and tanks Basic awareness of equivalent international standards, eg, ISO, BS, EU PED
- Assists in planning shutdowns and major equipment turnarounds Assists in maintenance planning for timing, exact activities and procedures, and associated stock and spare holdings
- Regular verbal and written reporting on the status of assigned tasks and projects, obstacles, achievements, and budget
- Acts as a general project engineer to coordinate project objectives with all stakeholders, multiple discipline engineers, and company management Develop budget estimates and detailed project plans for all phases of projects
- Provides instruction and guidance to less experienced personnel, both engineering and technician level, ensuring the successful execution of projects and operations safely and efficiently Must observe, reinforce, and follow all safety rules, technical standards, and procedures Job tasks, correctly performed, indirectly impact cost containment, efficiency, profitability, or operations
Key Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering plus relevant industrial experience in hydrocarbon or chemical processing environment
- Minimum 8 years of general work experience within the oil and gas industry
- Proficient verbal and written skills in Kurdish, English and Arabic is essential
- Must be willing to travel extensively, respond and work on short notice and be available at all hours and days to attended to any crisis situations
- Computer literate with competence in spreadsheet, email, word processing, AutoCad, Project Scheduling software
