mselect is looking to hire a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Building Services for a national oil and gas operator in Doha, Qatar. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Mechanical Building Services Engineering utility network layouts, onshore/ offshore Oil and Gas installations. Fluency in English is a must.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical design and engineering services in Mechanical Building Services Engineering for all assigned engineering projects. Achieving the technical quality of work in accordance with procedures, whilst considering quality, schedule, cost and HSE.
  • Ensure the required technical assurance practices, engineering standards, environmental and safety policies are incorporated and followed, in work-scopes and whilst conducting Mechanical Building Services Engineering activities. Review technical deviations and variations to approved guidelines, codes, standards and practices
  • Directly responsible for ensuring Mechanical Building Services design/engineering Consultants/ Contractors deliverables comply with requirements. Assesses and approves/recommends suitability of Mechanical Building Services engineering submissions by Consultants/Contractors
  • Single point technical responsibility and accountability for assigned projects, within Mechanical Building Services design/engineering area of authority.
  • Support Engineering Department to review, update and apply standards and amendments to external standards.
  • Plan and coordinate activities of a team of multidiscipline engineers for providing timely delivery of technical services to meet project requirements.
  • Coordinate engineering designs, develop and review multi-disciplinary work-scopes for projects and other engineering activities. Ensure the work-scope is comprehensive and clear.
  • Review and approve method statements developed by contracted organisations for scope compliance. Liaise with contracted organisations to resolve technical issues.
  • Develop, update and monitor schedules for in-house engineering activities, contribute to external FEED/ EPIC scheduling activities and effective project delivery.
  • Conduct evaluation of technical bid packages for scope compliance.
  • Responsible for evaluation, assessment and recommendation of new vendors proposed during project phase.
  • Review and evaluate the Contract Changes/ Variation to approved guidelines and practices.
  • Assess and recommend technical suitability of Tenderers to perform work, within Mechanical Building Services engineering areas of responsibility.
  • Responsible and accountable for technical integrity and safety of design.
  • Requires minimal guidance and instruction.
  • Work accomplishments not subject to third party design checks.
  • Support the development of personal technical competency and skills, and those of Co-workers.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or Building Environmental Engineering.
  • Chartered/ Professional Engineer status or equivalent is preferable.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Mechanical Building Services Engineering (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, drainage, irrigation, building compressed air, building medical gas), utility network layouts, onshore/offshore Oil & Gas installations, with Consultant/Contractor and/or client lead background.
  • Proficiency in use of design software such as Carrier E20, Hevacomp, and Knowledgeable in drafting software such as AutoCAD.
  • Experience in construction, commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Experienced working within multi discipline/cultural environment.
  • Experienced in resolving technical challenges related to Mechanical Building Services and adjacent discipline issues.
  • Ability to prioritise and conclude multiple tasks in a timely manner to meet scheduled deadlines alongside unscheduled urgent activities.
  • Ability to coordinate with and promote teamwork amongst stakeholders, co-workers and external organisations.
  • Fluency in English with good verbal and writing communication skills and proficiency for conducting presentations.
