Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical design and engineering services in Mechanical Engineering for all assigned engineering projects. Achieving the technical quality of work in accordance with procedures, whilst considering quality, schedule, cost and HSE.
- Conduct Mechanical Engineering activities and in-house site surveys for projects, from initial concept definition phase through to; engineering studies, FEED, detailed design, and commissioning.
- Ensure the required technical assurance practices, engineering standards, environmental and safety policies are incorporated and followed, in work-scopes and whilst conducting Mechanical Engineering activities. Review technical deviations and variations to approved guidelines, codes, standards, and practices.
- Support Engineering Department to review, update and apply standards and amendments to external standards.
- Plan and coordinate activities of a team of multidiscipline engineers for providing timely delivery of technical services to meet the project requirements.
- Coordinate engineering designs, develop and review multi-disciplinary work-scopes for projects and other engineering activities. Ensure the work-scope is comprehensive and clear.
- Review and approve method statements developed by contracted organisations for scope compliance. Liaise with contracted organisations to resolve technical issues.
- Develop, update, and monitor schedules for in-house engineering activities, contribute to external FEED/EPIC scheduling activities and effective project delivery.
- Conduct evaluation of technical bid packages for scope compliance.
- Responsible for evaluation, assessment and recommendation of new vendors proposed during project phase.
- Review and evaluate the Contract Changes/Variation to approved guidelines and practices.
- Plays a vital role and functions as a part of the Project Task Force (PTF), formed with a specific objective of successful Project Implementation, consisting of discipline engineers, project engineers and construction supervisors.
- Liaises with Project Engineers, other discipline Engineers and End-users to develop cost effective, safe, and fit-for-purpose design solutions meeting corporate requirements.
- Support the development of personal technical competency and skills and those of Co-workers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Chartered/ Professional Engineer status or equivalent is preferable.
- Minimum 12 years of relevant post graduate experience in Oil & Gas industry with an international Consultancy company, EPIC contractor or End-user in the field of Piping/Mechanical facilities design/engineering and start-up of Oil & Gas processing
- facilities. Experience shall be in both Static and Piping disciplines. Expert level competency is required at least in one of the discipline areas (i.e., static or piping).
- Experience shall include project development studies, FEED & detailed engineering and handling of various piping materials and pressure vessel packages encountered in the Oil & Gas industry.
- Shall be fully familiar, with hands on capability in the Piping/Mechanical Engineering discipline areas such as Piping and Pressure Vessels with hands on capability on use of industry renowned design software’s and industry codes & standards.
- Experience skills in Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) based piping specialities; commissioning & start-up and troubleshooting of piping system problems will be an advantage.
- Additional preferable skills shall include project engineering, preparation of scope of work for tender, bid evaluation, project risk assessment and management.
- Proven ability for effectively managing time, cost, and quality in either greenfield or brownfield engineering major projects as well in multiple project environment for the discipline engineering. Having experience in concept development, FEED, EPIC, and technical support to site/ plant operation.
- Ability to identify and utilise relevant engineering standards, international codes, and company standards, related to Mechanical Engineering.
- Work experience in the GCC Countries are desirable
