mselect is looking to hire a Senior Wells Planning Engineer for an international oil & gas operator in Basrah. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of experience as a Planner/ Scheduler within the oil & gas industry. English and Arabic fluency is a must.

Key Accountabilities

  • Focal point for all the Well Services planning and scheduling requirements
  • Responsible for the Well Services Integrated Schedule development, and subsequent coordination between OPS, Subsurface, WO, Drilling, Civils, Projects departments to optimize execution performance and production
  • Integration of contractors’ schedules from different data sources. i.e., SharePoint, Excel, P6, and MS Project
  • Develop schedule baseline and monitor actual and forecast progress
  • Analysing deviations between baseline plan and the forecast and propose solutions
  • TAR and Curtailment related activities planning
  • Manage PoP and POI in relation to AWPB
  • Actively participate in the integrated planning processes for 4Q, 8Q, 5 years, and 25 years, across Subsurface, Well delivery, Operations, Procurement, and Projects
  • Drive the ability to understand, predict, and influence the cost and schedule outcomes and deliverables of a project through better heuristics, data management and analytics
  • Responsible for all periodic and adhoc planning reports pertaining to Well Services
  • Review SORs and programs, and provide feedback from the planning’s perspectives
  • Organize and chair periodic and adhoc schedule review meetings
  • Drive requirements and changes to improve the robustness and maturity Well Services planning systems
  • Mentor and coach others to aid project delivery.


Experience & Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Planner/Scheduler within the Oil & Gas industry
  • Upstream and Operator experience
  • Well Services, Drilling and or Workover experience would be desirable
  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineer or a technically related subject is desired
  • Extensive knowledge of Primavera and MS Projects
  • Excellent understanding of data analytics tools such as Power BI and Excel
  • Good understanding of earned value management system
  • Experience with managing contractors
  • Gulf Working experience
  • Excellent communication skills
