Role Synopsis
- The Senior Workover & Completions Engineer is responsible for the planning, execution, and optimization of workover and completion operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to industry best practices
- This role involves engineering design, operational support, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement of well-intervention activities
- This position is responsible for the delivery of safe, effective Workover and Completion Programs for the development plan
- Display confidence and ability to guide and mentor WO Engineers on the Team
- Work closely in a multi-cultural environment that requires daily liaison and communication with Workover Delivery Team Leads, Well Services, International Service Providers, Contractors, and support to Subsurface Team
- As a technical expert and leader, the Senior Engineer collaborates with subsurface, drilling, production, and WO Delivery teams to develop and implement effective workover and completion programs
- The role guides junior engineers, ensuring knowledge transfer and operational excellence
- The Senior Workover and Completions Engineer will report directly to the Workover Engineering Lead
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering experience, expertise and leadership to Workover Department, ensure the highest standards in the development of Workover & Completion Programs
- Lead with a strong commitment to HSE, ensuring compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and well control procedures
- Contribute to the highest standard provision of Workover/Completion Programs generated by the Workover Engineering Team
- Identify and coordinate pre-workover activities by Wells Services
- Lead the QA/QC process for technical calculations, ensuring program accuracy and efficiency
- Daily engineering and troubleshooting support to Workover/Completions Operations, including but not limited to Water Shut-offs/Zonal isolation, ESP Installation, Water Injection, Wellbore Cleanout, Cased Hole Fishing, and Well Integrity repair/intervention
- Mentor and coach Workover Engineers, fostering continuous learning and skill development
- Team SPA for key service provider contract(s): Liaising with Service Providers and Contractors regarding inventory, equipment and utilization of services
- Prepare, conduct and represent Workover Engineering at multi-disciplined Pre-Workover meetings
- QA/QC of EOWR and technical reports as required
- Provide technical and engineering support to the delivery team and Well-site leaders
- Offer recommendations for operational improvements plus implementing optimization and efficiency opportunities
- Participate in Quarterly Contractor Performance Reviews offering recommendations for improvement
- Track workover KPIs (NPT, cost efficiency, safety compliance, equipment performance)
- Identify and implement new technologies and best practices to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Provide input on contractor performance and service quality, ensuring vendors meet technical and operational expectations
Requirements
- Earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- Minimum 10-15 years of hands-on experience in well site operations with a Major International Operator, particularly in workover, completions, or well intervention activities, Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Workover/Completions Engineer with at least 5 years as a Workover Site Leader (WSL) or 5 years in a high leadership position
- Experience with land rig workover operations and planning, including water shutoff, water injection, fishing, fracturing, stimulation, ESP operations, and complex workover projects in challenging environments
- Valid IADC or IWCF Supervisory level Well Control certification
- Demonstrate a Proven track record of introducing and applying successful implementation of new technology to Workovers/Completions
- Good communication and mentoring skills to be commensurate with the above job role
- Strong team player with exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrable experience in managing rig and service contractors on multiple rig operations
- Workover Engineering in oil/gas field development/rehabilitation projects
- Aptitude to innovate and be open to new ideas
- Flexible approach to work
- Proficiency in workover program development, risk assessments, and troubleshooting
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and crisis-management skills
- Experience in contractor and stakeholder management
- Deep understanding of HSE policies, regulatory standards, and safety leadership
- Experience in conducting incident investigations and safety audits
- Proficient in safe working practices and good oil field practices
- Be able to demonstrate knowledge of the oil industry
- Strong English written and oral English
- Travel Requirements: Travel up to 5% for contractor meetings and rig visits in the region, if required
