mselect is looking to hire a Site Planner for an international energy client in Basrah, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years of relevant planning experience, with experience in project scheduling for solar energy, renewable energy, power plants or large-scale infrastructure projects. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.

Job Purpose
Site Planner is responsible for developing, managing, and monitoring project schedules to ensure timely and efficient execution. Working on behalf of the Owner coordinates with EPC contractors/subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to track progress, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with project timelines and contractual obligations. Site Planner will report directly to the Site Manager and functionally to the Project Control Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and maintain the master project schedule, ensuring alignment with key project milestones
  • Coordinate with EPC contractor, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning teams and stakeholders to ensure schedule feasibility
  • Monitor project progress and ensure alignment with the key project dates and track critical path activities
  • Highlight any deviations from the target dates and progress and report them accordingly
  • Evaluate critical paths in the project schedules and alternative schedule options to identify optimum project strategies or resolve problems before and during execution
  • Identify risks, scheduling conflicts, and potential delays, proposing mitigation strategies to keep the project on track
  • Review and validate contractor-submitted schedules focus mostly on the construction and commissioning phases to ensure accuracy, feasibility, and compliance with project timelines
  • Develop and update weekly look-ahead schedules with the internal forecast working with supervisors and field engineers
  • Proficient in PERT, coordinating and supporting the review of the recovery plans and “What if “schedule preparation if required
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, verify EPC contractor adherence to schedules, and resolve scheduling issues
  • Prepare project construction and commissioning reports with KPIs for certain key activities (trackers, piles, cables, modules etc) on a daily/weekly/monthly basis
  • Identify slippages and reasons and communicate them effectively to the Site Manager and Project Controls Manager
  • Interacts effectively with core disciplines – engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning to collect information for the reports and schedule update
  • Assist Project Controls Manager to manage and implement Schedule Risk Analysis processes for the Project
  • Align with the corporate/project-wide planning methodologies, reporting standards, and schedule integration across disciplines

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, Construction Management, Economics, Finance, Engineering (Civil, Electrical, or Renewable Energy), or a related field
  • Minimum 5-8 years of relevant planning experience Minimum 3 years of experience in project scheduling for solar energy, renewable energy, power plants or large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Fully versed with Planning principles and techniques and Primavera P6 (advanced level)
  • Strong understanding of solar power plant construction processes, including site preparation, electrical systems, and grid integration
  • Advanced understanding of Engineering, Procurement and Construction processes and application of Project Control principles
  • Excellent risk management, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to coordinate between client teams, EPC contractors, and external stakeholders
  • Extensive experience in owner management
  • Ability to work on-site and travel to project locations as required
