JOB OBJECTIVE
Telecom Supervisor is responsible, within the GMP team and under the Early Work Package Leader and report to Utility & Interface Lead during the Early Works execution phase, for coordination, validation of resources, monitoring, supervising the overall construction activities within assigned area as carried out by the EPC Contractor (and Subcontractors) at the GPP worksite. The job holder ensures that all HSSE, Quality and Technical contractual requirements are duly applied by EPC Contractor and all Subcontractors on the construction site.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Familiarity with telecommunication codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Inspecting construction sites frequently and ensuring that manpower and resources are adequate.
- Guaranteeing and implementing safety precautions while also ensuring that quality standards are met
- Provide assistance during construction to resolve any technical issues arising
- Ensure the scope of work and technical drawings are implemented and that all work is in conformity to standards and specifications
- Maintain close communication with all other discipline supervisors and manager to ensure site readiness for commencement of works.
- Prepare and provide daily productivity status to management team.
- Will not hesitate to issue ‘STOP WORK’ when witness potential hazard or risk that could cause harm to themselves, their co-workers, the environment, or the equipment.
- Possess broad knowledge and understanding of telecommunication systems and the integration between the systems: Data Network (LAN/ WAN), PAVA, Security Systems, Video Conferencing System, Fibre Optic, OSP, Structured Cabling.
- Ensure work are carried out by qualified and experienced labour force to avoid any accidents, poor installation standard, unsafe practice and such.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality control checks to ensure installations meet the required standards.
- Experiences in installation, test, and commissioning of telecommunication systems
- Check, inspect and test completed project work in close coordination with other discipline supervisors and arrange appropriate pre-commissioning inspections and tests.
- Ensure and follow up completion and clearance of all Punch List items
- Review and endorse red marked up and "as built" drawings
- Participate in hand-over and acceptance, review commissioning procedures and participate in the commissioning of facilities and start-up.
ACTIVITIES
- Collaborative work with other professionals working on the projects.
- Strong knowledge of telecommunication systems, equipment, and installation practices.
- Be able to read and correct interpretation of construction drawings.
- Must be able to work outdoors for an extended period
- Plans required work activities to ensure that tools, equipment, and materials are available
- Exhibit strong leadership skills and have sound knowledge of industrial and commercial electrical systems.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Mandatory experience in a similar position: 5+ Years
- Qualification: Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering or any other related field
- Professional experience: 10 years minimum.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical systems.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural business environment.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Language: Arabic as mother tongue and Fluent in English (speaking and writing)
- Previous experience in similar work environment will be an added advantage.
