Safety:
- Ensure HSE guidelines are always followed on all formation evaluation activities on the rig site
- Actively participate in all safety training, programs, Self- verifications, and drills on rig site
- Provide geological evaluation while drilling new wells and be the subsurface representative on the rig site to ensure required objectives are achieved
- Inform operations geologist if any safety critical equipment is not functioning correctly
- Understand and integrate all learnings concerning formation evaluation and communicate these learnings to the operations geologist team leader
- Liaise closely with the company’s WSL to identify potential problems such as pressure zones or lost circulation zones. Discuss the presence of caving (hole instability issues), as well as unusual background gas trends and presence of connection or trip gases. Be aware at all times of the estimated pore pressure and note any increasing trend(s) discussing the potential problems with the WSL and operations geologist
- Delivering geological end of well report to enable selecting the optimum reservoir drainage plan and determine future well placement
Key Accountabilities
- Maintains high level of communications with mudlogging, MWD, wireline, the company’s WSL and the operations geologist to ensure effective communication across teams on the rig and in the office
- Daily geological interpretation, descriptions, and reporting
- Supervising mud logging and LWD/wireline contractor operations to ensure they are carried out safely and to meet or exceed expected quality control guidelines
- Monitor drilling and mud parameters in correlation to geological intervals and communicate any unusual trends to the drilling supervisor and the company’s HQ
- Have daily communications with the operations geologist team leader to reports on daily operations and any issues which arise
- Audit mud logging and open hole logging unit and ensure all tools are working properly; act to rectify any deficiency and report issues to operations geologist team leader
- Select casing points from geological data while drilling
- Interaction with the company’s HQ NWD, wells representatives at wellsite and contracts
- Comply with the training program
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education:
- Geoscience Degree
- At least 2 years of experience as Wellsite/Operations Geologist
- Proactive work ethic - does things before being asked to or forced to by events
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the business context then acts accordingly
- Demonstrate shared commitment to the success of the team and the wider organization
- Communication skill (the ability to communicate with all parts of the business)
- At least Basic English language
- Full understanding off all activities that take place in a field
