mselect is looking for a Workshop Supervisor for an international oil and gas operator in Basrah, Iraq. Candidates must have at least 10 years of experience as Maintenance Workshop Supervisor role in Oil & Gas industry. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.

JOB PURPOSE
The workshop supervisor is responsible for the day to day safe and efficient running of the mechanical workshop. Management of workshop staff, and ensuring all matters relating to mechanical services are achieved for the repair of Mechanical equipment’s like pumps, compressor, generators, motors, valves, PSVs, Seals, machining and fabrication work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise, plan and coordinate workshop maintenance activities, including managing and allocating resources to ensure agreed time, cost, quality, safety and environmental targets are met
  • Carry out inspections, repair, assembly and testing of various type of pumps, compressors, Diesel Generators, motors, Mechanical Seals, Valves, Actuator, PSVs etc
  • Inspect, calibrate and rectify PSVs, actors and valves
  • Prepare strip down inspection report, identify the parts required with justification, assemble, test and submit final work report
  • Carry out minor machining work and fabrication work for the routine and modification work related to oil field assets
  • Ensure quality of work is utmost for improved performance and reliability of repaired equipment by avoiding rework.
  • Active participation in continual improvements for safety and workload
  • Maintain housekeeping in workshop. Ensure all work areas are clean and tidy including company transport
  • Ensure workshop test equipment and tooling is maintained
  • Ensure schedules are maintained and work proceeds according to plans, specifications and cost estimates
  • Adhere to health and safety policy, and other requirements relating to care of equipment and P.P.E
  • Provide training and mentoring to Local Nationals as required to up skill the team. Identify gaps in knowledge and work with the competency coordinator to act accordingly
  • Responsible for reporting any incidents or near misses to Mechanical Team Lead

REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
  • Completion of Higher Diploma in Mechanical (5 Years)
  • Trade qualification – either in machining or mechanical fitting role
  • Certification in Valve testing preferred
Experience:
  • 10 years of experience as Maintenance Workshop Supervisor role in Oil & Gas industry.
  • Strong and demonstrated experience in repair of various Pumps, compressor, Generators, motors, valves, PSVs, Machining and fabrication
  • Familiar with NBIC, BS, ANSI, API and ASME codes and their applications for all testing, measuring and applicable requirements.
  • Excel – advanced
  • Word – Intermediate
  • Power Point - Intermediate
  • SAP – intermediate
  • English – upper intermediate (verbal & written)

  • Ability to work cohesively and communicate successfully in multi-cultural teams whilst being aware of and sensitive to cultural differences
  • Ability to communicate, co-ordinate, and manage cost data flow interfaces with each function.
  • Demonstrable experience in the ability to prepare meaningful reports, in clear and concise English, utilizing information and data received from third parties, SAP (or equivalent system) and own analyses
