mselect is looking to hire a Deputy AML Manager for an international banking client in Baghdad, Iraq. Candidates must have 3-5 years of FCC experience in a financial institution. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.

Job Purpose
The role of the Deputy AML Manager is to support the Country Head of FCC in the execution of their accountabilities in so far as they relate to CFCC-related processes.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy:
  • Implement CFCC strategies consistent with the bank’s vision and growth aspirations
  • Promote a compliance culture aligned with CFCC standards and ethical business practices
  • Input into the design of compliance and risk management processes

Business:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, providing timely compliance guidance
  • Support product design, new business initiatives, and remediation activities
  • Provide robust challenge where activities fall outside of risk tolerance
  • Ensure the business aligns with global standards while addressing local regulatory requirements
  • Participate in regular meetings with operational teams and business stakeholders

Processes:
  • Develop and maintain policies/processes to address conduct, financial crime, and compliance risks
  • Oversee the implementation of CFCC policies and monitor first-line compliance processes
  • Manage AML investigations, transaction monitoring, and customer screening processes
  • Handle compliance risk assessments and ensure controls align with group standards
  • Conduct ad-hoc and deep-dive reviews on specific processes or risks as needed

Governance:
  • Manage regulatory relationships and prepare for inspections and audits
  • Ensure all issues and matters are tracked and resolved through proper governance frameworks
  • Oversee significant issues arising from compliance metrics, assurance activities, and audit reviews
  • Regulatory & Business Conduct:
  • Maintain effective communication with regulators and ensure the organization is prepared for exams
  • Monitor and manage regulatory developments affecting the bank’s business
  • Ensure that regulatory breaches are addressed promptly and effectively
  • Project and Change Management:
  • Lead or support projects to enhance compliance capabilities
  • Ensure business continuity during change initiatives and remediation programs

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, finance, accounting, banking, or related fields
  • 3-5 years of FCC experience within a financial institution
  • Preferred qualifications include ACAMS, ICA, or CFE

Skills
  • Expertise in compliance policies, risk assessment, and investigations
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with a high level of ethics and analytical ability
  • Knowledge of AML regulations, customer screening, and transaction monitoring
