mselect is looking to hire a Director of consulting and Analytics for an international fintech client in Johannesburg, South Africa. Candidates must have a minimum of 12 years of experience gained within the financial services industry, preferably working in the FI practice of a top-tier consulting firm. Fluency in English is a must.

Job Purpose
The Consulting and analytics Director are a senior role in the Sub-Saharan African consulting team (SSA). We are seeking a strategic, innovative, and analytical thinker who can deliver data-driven solutions through a consultative approach.

Key areas
  • Design, develop and implement end-to-end strategic programs across multiple areas such as EW product development, customer life cycle management, digital innovation, and risk that are data-driven for our clients Develop high-impact storyboards that promote data-driven strategies and solutions
  • This role will be required to drive the growth of the Digital and Commercial practice areas within VCA including business development as well as project delivery This role will require presence at client premises and travel to other markets in Sub-Saharan Africa

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver Consulting and Analytics programs by identifying innovative opportunities around data and data-related processes that will help our clients implement fact-based decision processes within their card & payment programs
  • Resolve complex strategic problems and set strategic direction and roadmap for client program delivery across multiple topics such as new products, strategy, digital, and commercial service lines
  • Synthesize and manage complex project structures, especially with clients that have multiple affiliates Manage, facilitate, and implement analytics and consulting services and efficiently meet clients' business targets by creating synergies to deliver across multiple markets (assignment objectives, project scope, budget, paperwork, external consultants' supervision and project delivery)
  • Work closely with other groups, including Product, Marketing, Client services etc, to ensure a seamless Consulting experience in the countries of focus
  • Work with a broader team that consists of Business Managers, Consultants, and Data Scientists from both the organization and client entities to strategize, co-create, deploy, and reap the benefits of data-driven solutions
  • Review, direct, guide, and inspire the consulting and analytical work of junior members of the team
  • Collaborate with internal Technology partners and the Data Engineering function to best leverage internal technology platforms, data, and the broader enterprise ecosystem to support our clients' technical data needs
  • Develop project pitches and secure new assignments with clients, as well as re-engagement opportunities via a consultative sales approach to assigned client
  • Develop and deliver client-training programs and impart best practices knowledge sharing to clients
  • Where appropriate, work with designated practice areas globally (digital and commercial) to incorporate best practices, source analytical or other services and leverage global consulting solutions
  • Manage the consulting budget and resources to perform all required duties
  • Liaise with functional teams (Finance, Audit, Legal, Tax, Sourcing) to define and implement processes to optimize the daily engagement of vendors and relationships with clients
  • Manage workload for self and any direct reports, providing prioritization guidance for project flow to improve process efficiency
  • Manage and grow talent within the team
  • Develop, share, and build global best practices and knowledge management within the team
  • Socialize innovative ideas and approaches that are scalable and have market demand
  • Comply with internal requirements around Model Risk Management, Analytics Rules, and Global Privacy standards in client delivery to ensure that the organization's highly regarded market standing is maintained

Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Over 12 years of solid experience gained within the financial services industry Preferable worked in the FI practice of a top-tier consulting firm
  • Experience working in one or more of the Card and Payments markets around the globe - with specific responsibilities in payments, retail banking, or retail merchant industries
  • Strong consulting skills and client engagement abilities Advanced client management and presentation expertise Ability to build credibility with clients and teams, using diplomatic skills to achieve desired results Comfortable interacting with and presenting to senior management of both clients and the organization
  • Post-graduate degree desired
  • Good understanding of Payments and the Banking industry, including card verticals such as consumer credit, consumer debit, prepaid, small business, commercial, co-branded and merchant
  • Highly analytical with advanced PowerPoint skills and Excel skills
  • Superior project management skills Fluent communicator
  • Self-motivated and able to use own initiative with limited direction
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with inter-disciplinary groups
  • Experience building and cultivating teams
  • Experience planning, organizing, and managing multiple large projects with diverse cross-functional teams, including resource planning and delivery implementation
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Fluency in English mandatory French is desired but not a prerequisite

Additional Information
  • Position based in South Africa - Travel required to other SSA markets and part-time onsite at client premises
  • This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs
