mselect is looking to hire an Electrical Supervisor for an international energy client in Basrah, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.
 
JOB OBJECTIVE 
As an Electrical Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role within the team, reporting to the Utility & Interface Lead during the Early Works execution phase. Your responsibilities include coordinating, validating resources, monitoring, and supervising overall construction activities within your assigned area. You will work closely with the EPC Contractor and Subcontractors at the worksite, ensuring compliance with HSSE, Quality, and Technical contractual requirements
 
RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Ensuring familiarity with electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards
  • Conducting frequent inspections at construction sites to ensure adequate manpower and resource availability
  • Guaranteeing and implementing safety precautions while ensuring adherence to quality standards
  • Providing assistance during construction to resolve any arising technical issues
  • Ensuring the implementation of work scope and technical drawings in conformity with standards and specifications
  • Maintaining close communication with other discipline supervisors and managers to ensure site readiness for electrical works
  • Providing daily productivity status reports to the management team
  • Taking immediate action by issuing 'STOP WORK' orders when potential hazards or risks are observed
  • Demonstrating a working knowledge of fundamental electrical engineering requirements and other related fields
  • Ensuring that work is carried out by a qualified and experienced labour force to prevent accidents and maintain installation standards
  • Conducting regular inspections and quality control checks to ensure electrical installations meet required standards
  • Participating in and witnessing performance tests on powerlines, cables, and other electrical equipment
  • Checking, inspecting, and testing completed project work in coordination with other discipline supervisors
  • Facilitating completion and clearance of all Punch List items
  • Reviewing and endorsing red marked-up and "as-built" drawings
  • Participating in handover and acceptance processes, reviewing commissioning procedures, and participating in facility start-up activities
  • In addition to your technical responsibilities, you are expected to uphold exemplary behaviour in terms of HSE, ethics, and professional conduct
 
ACTIVITIES
  • Collaborating with other professionals on the project
  • Demonstrating a strong knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and installation practices
  • Reading and interpreting construction drawings accurately
  • Being able to work outdoors for extended periods
  • Planning work activities to ensure availability of tools, equipment, and materials
  • Demonstrating strong leadership skills and sound knowledge of industrial and commercial electrical systems
 
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Minimum 10 years of experience required, with at least 5 years in a similar role
  • Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical systems
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural business environment
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Arabic (mother tongue) and Fluent in English (speaking and writing)
  • Previous experience in a similar work environment will be an added advantage
