mselect is looking to hire a Fluids, Cement and Waste Management Supervisor for an international energy client in Basrah, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.

JOB OBJECTIVE
The candidate should be a senior drilling fluid engineer with minimum 10 years’ experience, capable to be upskilled through continuous mentoring and coaching by an experienced FCWM team, in addition to a specific training program in cementing and waste management. Candidate is expected to become a Drilling Fluids, Cement and Waste Management (FCWM) Supervisor within the first 6 months of hiring.
The job holder should:
  • Strictly implement company HSE rules in our operation at worksites, leading by example, anywhere, anytime, and being in charge and observing the performance of FCWM contractors’ personnel at worksites, ensuring their commitment to run operations with zero incident or accident, zero spill to the environment
  • Ensure the full implementation of waste management system at rig site in a zero-discharge context (pit less or “dry” Location, water management through optimized mud recycling) as per company programs, reporting any anomaly
  • Supervise all FCWM operations at rig site, ensuring all operations are carried out as per the drilling and/ or FCWM programs
  • Make Company Man and FCWM Superintendent aware at any time of FCWM status (ECD hydraulic simulation results, hole cleaning, mud properties variation, products and/or equipment inventory versus upcoming operations…), preparing FCWM instructions at rig site
  • Responsible in providing and distributing daily and/or operation reports (Drilling Fluids, Cement and Waste Management) to agreed list
  • Follow, control and track daily costs of the FCWM activities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
HSE:
  • Ensure the fluids, cement and waste mgt operations are in line with the drilling program, the referential, the local legislations/regulations
  • Report and analyze any related incident
  • Ensure proper traceability reporting is carried out on daily basis for all waste management operations
  • Ensure safe storage for all chemicals with secured place for hazard chemicals (e.g. caustic soda, flammable chemicals etc.)
  • Optimize the operations to minimize and reduce water consumption, drilling waste volumes and logistics synergies to reduce CO2 emission
Co-ordination:
  • Liaise with the FCWM Superintendent in daily basis to ensure the fully understanding and implementation of drilling program requirements, planning in advance logistics means and associated resources
  • Raise Management of Change (MOC) for any potential requirement to change any step of initially planned operation
  • Ensure FCWM contractors’ preparation and equipment readiness
  • Anticipate/forecast of equipment/personnel/consumables needs for each section/well and ensure their mobilization in due time
Operation & Supervision:
  • Ensure all FCWM equipment onboard the rig are fully certificated & maintained as per the maintenance schedule is respected
  • Ensure the FCWM operations are carried out as per the drilling program & in case of unplanned event, propose an alternative change or solution to reduce risk and raise MOC with hierarchy for approval
  • Prepare the daily reports, end of phases debriefing, and end of well report
  • Recap & report all the lessons learned ensuring implementing the recommendations to new section/well

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Prevent any major incident (well blow out, fatality…) and pollution
  • Deliver wells on time, budget and productivity
  • Optimize Drilling and Completion Operations costs
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Engineering degree; petroleum, chemical or equivalent
  • 10 years’ experience in Drilling Fluids & should be competent in:
  • HPWBM, filter-cake breaker systems, low invasion reservoir mud, onshore dry location Waste Management (“zero discharge”)
  • Knowledge & familiarity with basic cementing operation
  • Fluent in English and Arabic
