mselect is looking to hire an Instrument and Control Engineer for an international oil and gas operator in Basrah, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 10-15 years' experience in the oil and gas industry. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.

Job Purpose
  • Manage I&C activities, prepare and develop Waterflood Area EQs & MOCs, direct discipline support to Waterflood facilities, conduct failure analyses, ensure collaborative work with IA and I&C technicians, maintain adherence to standards, pursue professional development into senior discipline role
  • Lead efficient execution of area support I&C activities: area I&C MOCs work packs, and SCR (Software Change Requests), WF (Waterflood) control loop performance monitoring (sensing elements, control valves, trips/shut-downs functionalities)
  • 5whys and root cause failure analysis of any repeated faults in instruments and control loops; detailed SCADA interrogations of any trip events
  • Work closely with WF IA – Instrument Advisors and local I&C Technicians who executes/implements MOCs/SCR Provide accurate WO – Work Orders to IA for corrective actions in I&C scopes
  • Seeking skill improvement and personal development from CET – Central Engineering Team I&C team
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of Instrument and Control engineering design and analysis
  • Ownership of equipment health and monitoring in support of area reliability targets
  • Supports the central M&E teams in developing and delivering reliability improvements
  • Support the execution of work in accordance with the Control of Work standards
  • Support the delivery of the Maintenance & Engineering Vision, Strategy and Priorities
  • Support maintenance and project teams to deliver I&C improvement initiatives within assigned facilities
  • Coordinate with Production/Operations staff to identify/prioritize and schedule MOC activities
  • Conduct site surveys to assess the current condition & troubleshoot I&C systems and provide solutions

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assurance on engineering compliance with applicable Standards, Specifications, Codes and Regulations Ensure that non-conformities and temporary deviations are identified
  • Ensure PID’s and I&C, including cause and effects, documentation, and drawings are up to date
  • Identify areas of improvement in safety, reliability, and efficient execution of work
  • Lead/Participate internal HAZOP, What-If Risk Assessment, Hazard Assessment, Operations Risk Assessment (ORA) and LOPA studies in filed
  • Provide procurement engineering support for material requisition development, bid evaluations and supplier documentation reviews
  • To provide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline
  • To co-ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up
  • Mentoring/Training of Junior I&C Engineer

Requirements
  • Educational background: BSC degree relevant to Instrument and Control engineering
  • 10-15 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Experience in international multicultural operational roles
  • Experience in brownfield engineering, reliability, and strong technical leadership with influencing capabilities
  • Sound supervisory and organisational skills
  • Clear communicator with good interpersonal skills
  • An active listener with the ability to focus on key requirements to achieve overall successful outcomes
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English language
  • Candidate to demonstrate familiarity with all relevant industry codes, standards and practices, and relevant experience with PLC, DCS, field Instruments both electronic and pneumatic
