mselect is looking to hire a Lead Petrophysicist for an international oil and gas operator in Basrah, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.
JOB SYNOPSIS
The IPT (Integrated Petrophysics Team) Petrophysicist reports to the Reservoir Management Manager. The role is responsible to evaluate Open Hole and Cased Hole log data within the Integrated Petrophysics Team. This team provides day to day Petrophysical interpretation and support to all surveillance (including Saturation logs, PLT/ILT, Well Integrity logs, Temperature logs, Pressure surveys) and managing subsequent activities such as perforations, water shut-offs etc. As IPT Lead he/she will be leading workflows and deliveries for the Reservoir Management Team, Base Management team, New Well Delivery team and Wells team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that all the CH interpretations/studies are delivered in a timely manner with the right level of quality
- Act as SPA for PLT/ITL and SAT logs interpretations. Can cover WO and Rigless operations with no support from Senior positions, including witnessing and supervision on-site, and supplier performance management
- Act as a technical expert, training and mentoring junior staff
- QA/QC and interpretation of OH and CH logs, including conventional and non-conventional logging solutions
- Processing of raw data using/adapting Petrophysical models
- Delivery of well interpretation presentation, documents/reports to cross-functional audience
- Support and provide petrophysical input into panel reviews and completion meetings, to support static and dynamic reservoir models
- Perform other associated duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION CRITERIA
Essential:
- This is an experienced position, so at least 8 years of experience as a Petrophysicist is required
- Experience in leading technical teams is required
- Self-starter with excellent work ethic, diligent and reliable
- Extensive experience in CH interpretation including well integrity logs and integration of PLT/PNL data
- Experience in sandstones and carbonates OH interpretation
- Extensive use (advanced/skilled) of Techlog and PLATO interpretation software
- Regional understanding of Sw/poro-perm characteristics and mapping
- Understanding of the uncertainties in the measurements and calculations
- Knowledge of operations: drilling and wireline operation
- Ability to identify work scope independently and initiate conversation with stakeholders
- Demonstrably strong communication skills in English
Desirable:
- A bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering or equivalent
- PowerBI user experience is a plus
- Experience in Python is a big plus
