Job Purpose
In this function QC Painting/Coating Inspector will be responsible for the site-based Coating/Painting works for main development facilities and equipment. A good candidate would have a solid multi- discipline Oil & Gas operations knowledge and related supervisory and inspection experience in a similar capacity with a good understanding of project specifications, norms, and regulations as well as international codes. The Painting/Coating Inspector will manage HSSE in all aspects, QA/QC, monitor EPC, local Coating Contractor work including piping/structural, tank, vessels, equipment, works progress/performance, interface with responsible engineers and construction supervision team.
Key Responsibilities
- Control execution of site painting/coating works activities in conformance with project drawings, specifications, schedules, procedures, quality requirements, and safety standards
- Monitor structural, piping, tanks, vessels, and equipment’s painting and ensure it is performed as per project specification, procedures, and standards
- Review and verify that all testing procedures for coating activities and other quality procedures related to surface treatment and coating activities have been approved and are on site
- Checks surface preparation, carries out wet and dry film thickness checks
- Monitor all site insulation, cladding and heat tracing work and ensure it is performed as per project specification, procedures, and standards
- Monitor and keep record of the Air Temperature, Dew Point, Relative Humidity
- Shall be thoroughly familiar with Painting/Coating Construction Materials and Construction Methods
- Shall have thorough knowledge in International Codes and Standards for Painting, Construction and Testing of Materials and Works
- Implement QA/QC activities including Contractors/ sub-contractors works in accordance with approved QCP/ ITPs and Procedures, method statements and other contract documents
- Responsible for the maintenance of Blaster & Painter Qualification records and performance and organise necessary training if needed
- Prepares and sign off applicable RFI records for quality surveillance / inspections/ tests
- Confirm testing parameters are duly recorded and signed off and that testing equipment is calibrated
- Decision–making Authority
- Identify solutions for any issue and interact with the Field Engineering Team where final decision will be made
- Control of storage and certification of consumables, performs qualifications of coating processes
- Witness procedures, tests and certify the results
- Issue Flash Report daily or as agreed with line manager
- Prepares and sign off applicable records for quality surveillance / inspections/ tests
- Play an active role in the development of the safety culture on the project, making safety a natural part of all work performed
Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and regulations
Problem Solving:
Investigates potential and identified problems to find cost effective solutions and implements when approved, monitors results
Reporting and Communication:
- Reports to the Line Manager on all issues relating own responsibilities
- Exhibits and maintains excellent working relationships with all Pearl staff
Supervisory Responsibility
Currently supervises:
Contractor inspectors and their personnel working on all painting/coating/insulation related activities
Requirements
- Education (Diploma): Higher technical degree / bachelor’s degree
- Relevant Experience: Minimum of 10 years coating and insulation inspection activities
- Experience and knowledge of the Coating, Insulation and fireproofing requirements and Standards BGAS Grade 2, NACE 2, FROSIO Level 2 or equivalent certification is required
- Chartek Fireproofing application experience – preferred
- A minimum experience of 10 years in a similar position in Oil & Gas Industry
- Experience working in international and multicultural/multidisciplinary environment
- Fluency in English and Kurdish is a must
- Good knowledge of international standards and all relevant local standards and laws
- Have solid experience in managing contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors
- Experience in interfacing government authorities and certifying bodies
- Must be stress and crisis resistant, reliable, and highly flexible adjusting to current workload
- Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
- Basic computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, and electronic presentation programs and ability to travel in/out country
