MSELECT is looking to hire a Procurement Specialist for an international oil and gas operator in Erbil, the candidate must have at least 2 years of relevant experience and must be fluent in English and Kurdish.

 

Job objective:

Technical and specialized work in the volume purchasing of equipment, materials and supplies.


Job responsibilities:

  • Receives, examines and processes requisitions; prepares bid specifications and other necessary documents related to the purchase of supplies, materials and equipment; prepares State requisition or locates source of supply, and places orders with appropriate bidder(s)
  • Compares costs and evaluates the quality and suitability of supplies, materials and equipment
  • Interviews and corresponds with vendors; keeps informed of new products and market conditions and trends
  • Confers with and assists officials of all departments to determine purchasing needs and specifications
  • Maintains records on purchase price information on both open market and contract purchases and revises these as conditions changes; obtains quotations on open market purchases
  • Analyzes purchasing trends to determine if an agency contract or statewide contract would benefit the Company
  • Assists in the supervision and training of less experienced buying personnel and generally is responsible for the supervision of one procurement assistant

 

Job requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics or related discipline or relevant experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years working in a general buying environment is required
  • Considerable knowledge of purchasing methods and procedures and of the techniques of specification writing
  • Considerable knowledge of a variety of office, technical, and maintenance supplies and materials, the best sources, and appropriate prices for the procurement of such goods
  • Considerable knowledge of methods of analyzing supplies and materials
  • Some knowledge of the application of bookkeeping principles and methods of the keeping of procurement records
  • Ability to supervise the work of others in the performance of routine purchasing office duties
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors
  • Knowledge of software: Great Plains software experience preferred, but other accounting software will be considered and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required
  • Language skills: Advanced in English and Kurdish

 

Business and personal qualities:

  • Ability to act independently as well as well working as a part of the distributed team (interactions with colleagues, managing contractor’s staff, etc.)
  • Good communication skills, stress resistance and organizational skills
