mselect is looking to hire a Safety Advisor for an international oil and gas operator in Basrah, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 7 years’ experience in oil and gas industry with at least 5 years in safety or equivalent in drilling and completion operations. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.

ACTIVITES
  • Advise the Company’s Drilling and Completion / Well Intervention Senior Supervisor on Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) matters
  • Ensure that activities are carried out according to the Company's HSE Policies and procedures (Procedures, Downgraded Situation Management Plan, Oil Spill Contingency Plan, Waste Management Plan, Bridging documents, Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC))
  • Ensure site HSE reporting, HSE reviews and HSE audits are carried out
  • Ensure that information on all serious incidents/accidents is immediately communicated to the Company’s Senior Supervisor and an appropriate investigation, analysis and classification report is established promptly
Support:
  • Control of the Company’s HSE Management System and bridging documents requirements between Contractors involved in operations and Company
  • Support Company’s Senior Supervisor to identify and minimize risks especially in downgraded situations
  • Participate in performing Operational Risk Analysis and job analysis for critical tasks
  • Participate in Kick off meetings, Pre spud meetings, daily meetings Participate randomly in Pre Job-Meetings
  • Deliver HSE inductions at the activity sites
  • Follow up on Compliance with Company’s HSE Objectives through progress follow up
  • Ensure communication of Return-on-Experience (REX) on all HSE related matters (eg, Safety Feedback Notices)
  • Participate in HSE performance improvement with recommendations of initiatives based on audit results or analysis of incidents
  • Implement the Company’s HSE campaigns
  • Coordinate the implementation and updating of Contractors' emergency plans, as well as collaborate in the organization of emergency/accident drills
  • Participate in Cause Tree Analysis when required Consolidate and issue investigation reports and follow up the implementation of identified actions
  • Co-ordinate the organization and preparation of Site HSE Committee presentation and minutes
  • Verify of location status upon completion of Rig decommissioning and prior to location Handover
  • Follow up on traffic and road safety before starting the Drilling Transport Management and coordinate the preparation and dissemination of the "Road Map"
  • Assist Company’s Senior Supervisor on Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) follow-up
  • Ensure compliance of site activity with Company’s Waste Management Plan
Reporting:
  • Ensure monitoring and reporting of HSE key performance indicators (KPI) set by the Company
  • Maintain updated HSE boards at the activity sites
  • Perform the upload, update, follow-up and closure of Cases in the Synergi system
  • Ensure the correct analysis, follow-up and improvement of reported anomalies in a reliable database
  • Keep a record of corrective actions arising from internal/external audits, HSE tours and incident/accident reports
Audits and Inspections:
  • Contribute to the organization of internal/external audits, technical reviews, HSE Tours Follow up of actions taken
  • Perform spot audits (Check List of vehicles, Contractor's facilities, Camp, equipment and tools, Canteen, etc)
  • Control FiFi system, means of evacuation/rescue and meeting points

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or any science related field
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in Oil and Gas industry with at least 5 years in Safety (or equivalent) in Drilling and Completion operations
  • Experience of working in environments with high H2S concentrations is mandatory
  • Exposure to onshore operations is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is a must
