Job Purpose
The job holder will be responsible for coordinating all surveys related to the Project in Iraq. This role serves as a crucial interface between the Company Project group and the FEED contractor, who is subcontracting the survey contractors. Additionally, the job holder will act as a key liaison between the Company Project group and the South Gas Company (SGC), the local gas company.
Key Activities
- Integrate all local permitting activities (ESIA, societal, land acquisition…) and associated planning related to the IRAQI development project and assist the company project management in any decision relating to planning issues
- Help with the coordination of the survey logistics (site access permit, personnel and equipment transportation, etc)
- Provide technical support to operations as the contact point with the worksite and company project entity
- Realize a follow-up and update the site survey planning execution to feed the general planning of the project
- Issue weekly/monthly progress reports to control operations progress, and costs when required
- To ensure with the company project entity that approvals of partners (SGC) and governmental authorities have been obtained in all matters related to the survey execution
- To ensure with the company project entity that required permitting is in place before site survey contractor mobilization
- To ensure with the company project entity that site preparation and community awareness have been performed before site access
- To provide technical support and coordination in relation with company project entity, if requested, for the pre-mobilization phase including the kick-off meeting
- To ensure the company HSE project entity that an emergency response plan and risk assessment are in place before the survey contractor’s mobilization and are followed during the surveys
- Ensure with the company security entity that security mitigation measures are in place before the survey contractor’s mobilization and are followed during the surveys
- To investigate on potential optimization of site survey logistics and interfaces when relevant (mutualization of means, resources)
- Ensure that the planned activities follow company regulations & procedures and contract requirements
- To assist in the monitoring and control of the site survey contractor’s HSE, societal and local content performances
- To execute the first site qc on the results of contractors in his domain of competence (i.e. geotechnics if geotechnical)
- To timely report to the project director, highlighting progress, opportunities and encountered areas of concern
- To gather “lessons learnt” related to scheduling, progress control, reporting matters and provide feedback to the GMP team, partners & client organization as required
- To adopt and demonstrate exemplary behavior with regard to h3se and h3se rules implementation
- To adopt and demonstrate exemplary behavior regarding ethics and project “code of conduct” policy
- To Participate in meetings with partners, authorities and other stakeholders as required
- To carry out any other duties or tasks that may be required by the position
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate local permitting and survey logistics
- Provide technical support and update survey planning
- Issue progress reports and ensure approvals and permits
- Oversee site preparation, HSE, and security measures
- Optimize survey logistics and monitor contractor performance
- Conduct initial QC and report progress to the Project Director
- Gather feedback and demonstrate exemplary H3SE and ethics
Requirements
- Degree: Survey engineer (or equivalent formal qualification) in a recognized Engineering discipline
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the Oil &Gas Industry with similar large-scale projects & environment
- Experience in Management of technical surveys and operations in the Oil and Gas Industry, knowledge in geotechnical survey is appreciated
- Experience in Management of contracts: Planning, Cost estimates and Cost control and Coordination with internal staff and contractors
- Experience in HSE Performance Management
- Experience in Technical support for environmental permitting
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural business environment
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- English as mother tongue or Fluent in English (speaking and writing)
