mselect is looking for a Subsurface Data Analyst for an international oil and gas operator in Basrah, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience within the oil and gas industry. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.

Job Purpose
Subsurface data analyst is a discipline in Petroleum Engineering Department. The main job purpose is to give full data analyst support for the department disciplines (G&G, WRFM, …etc.) by being responsible for managing essential technical and scientific information and data used in Company.

Key Responsibilities
As the Technical Data Management Analyst, you should be able to apply Technical Data Management principles to support studies in Exploration and Field Development in the following specialty areas:
  • Geochemistry - Data derived from geochemical samples, and metadata. Rock physics data and metadata
  • Petrophysical Data - Core data, geomechanics data, and petrophysical analysis
  • Support day-to-day operations of data management solutions and services for the specialist geology disciplines
  • Increase demand for data management support in new areas such as but not limited to Rock Physics, Petrology, Production Chemistry

Requirements

Key Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering, Geology or Engineering from an accredited and recognized university
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with an operator with in-depth technical knowledge and capability in Geology studies
  • Experience in wells drilling
  • Knowledge in Petrel
  • Knowledge in CDS applications
  • Knowledge in EDM applications
  • Good Computer Skills such as windows and office applications
Experience:
  • Previously working in a multi-cultural and multi-nationalities team
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is a must
  • ProSource software is requested
  • Experience in other petroleum engineering standard software is an advantage

  • Good communication and analytical skills are essential
  • Eagerness to learn and develop own skills
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to delegate, and work with minimum supervision
  • Must have a HSSE driven mindset
  • Self-starter and proactive ‘go getter’ with good teamwork
  • Be sufficiently flexible to work outside the normal boundaries and to integrate quickly into the project
  • Ability to work well under tight schedule
  • Oil and gas wells operation, design and integrity monitoring
  • Wells management from conceptual and construction until abandonment
  • The ability to work with people from different cultural backgrounds will be essential
  • The position will involve working with government or partner representatives
  • Ability to quickly determine the optimal production solution, with often conflicting or missing data or information
  • Good diagnostic skills are required to troubleshoot problems
