mselect is looking to hire a Supply Chain Reporting for an international energy client in Basrah, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.

Job Purpose
The Supply Chain Engineer has core responsibility in the end-to-end management of supply chain activities specific to renewable energy projects. This role involves the procurement, transportation, storage, and delivery of solar panels, inverters, GIS equipment, HV substation and other critical components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Timely and efficient sourcing of all necessary materials and components, including solar panels, inverters, GIS equipment, and other critical parts
  • Ensures that procurement activities align with project timelines and specifications
  • Managing supply chain costs within the allocated budget

Activities
Procurement, Vendor, Logistics and Inventory Management:
  • Develop and optimize supply chain plan tailored to the specific needs of Solar PV plants and GIS substations, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Source and procure key components such as solar PV modules, inverters, mounting systems, GIS equipment, and high-voltage electrical components Ensure that all materials meet project specifications and quality standards
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers of solar and GIS equipment, negotiate contracts, and ensure on-time delivery of critical components
  • Manage the logistics of transporting and handling large and sensitive equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards
  • Implement inventory control systems to maintain optimal stock levels for both solar and GIS components, reducing storage costs while ensuring availability
  • Negotiating contracts and managing relationships to optimize supplier performance
Quality Assurance and Sustainability:
  • Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure that all materials and components adhere to renewable energy industry standards and project requirements, including conducting inspections and testing as needed
  • Ensure that all supply chain activities comply with relevant regulations and standards, particularly those related to renewable energy and high-voltage electrical equipment
  • Ensure that supply chain practices align with the company's sustainability goals, including reducing the carbon footprint and promoting renewable energy

Project Collaboration, Cost and Risk Assessments:
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to align supply chain activities with project timelines and goals
  • Monitor and manage supply chain costs to stay within budget, seeking opportunities to reduce expenses while maintaining quality and timelines
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with the supply chain for solar PV plants and GIS substations, including potential delays, quality issues, and cost overruns
  • Evaluating, selecting, and managing suppliers to ensure that they meet the project’s quality, cost, and delivery requirements
  • Negotiating favourable terms with suppliers, minimizing transportation and inventory costs, and identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality

Documentation and Reporting:
  • Providing regular reports to senior management on supply chain performance, including key metrics such as cost, quality, and delivery timelines
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all supply chain activities, including procurement contracts, supplier performance data, inventory levels, and cost reports

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar positions in the energy sector, and preferably with relevant exposure to renewable energies such as solar PV, OHTL, HV Substations or wind
  • Proficiency in supply chain management software (e.g, SAP, Oracle)
  • Experience in the MENA region working in an EPC Company will be considered a plus
  • Knowledge of international standards, good industry practice and environmental legislation in relation to construction
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines and demanding clients
  • Capacity to integrate a team and collaborate with all members with a constructive approach
  • IT proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Fluency in English with strong written and oral communication skills
