Job Purpose
The operations coordinator is a developmental, coaching and mentoring position and does not have directly managed reports. Deliverables are achieved through influence, and this is heavily reliant upon the relationship the operations coordinator develops with the OA, the COW TL and the national staff at the field locations. The operations coordinator supports the OA and OTLs to ensure safe, efficient management of Plant and Equipment. The operations coordinator plays a key role in the improvement and delivery of the Operating Discipline of Shift Teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Support COW coaches in coaching & mentoring shift teams and contractor performing authorities involved in the execution of controlled work activities, ensuring compliance with COW & HSE processes and procedures
- Support COW coaches on-site when consulted in providing clarity on work planning, and on required hazards and controls to ensure increased HITRA quality, and safe and efficient work control and management
- Responsible for interventions should personnel not demonstrate adequate competence with respect to COW and HSE
- Assisting and supporting the OA with coaching and field-based leadership on operating discipline e.g. LO/LC, procedures, routines, cow, operating within a safe operating envelope
- Responsible for performing verification of bi-weekly LO/LC walk-downs done by shift teams
- Assisting and supporting the OA with the implementation of day-to-day priorities across maintenance and operations; facilitating activities on an as-required basis
- Responsible for conducting daily operations plant status rounds using power apps coach shift personnel on the use of the plant status checks apps and partner with them to conduct plant checks
- Responsible for recording flare carry-over events, flare-out events, heavy black smoke events and condensate draining activities on-site
- Assisting and supporting the OA and site teams in defining and implementing tar isolations and prep procedures, including COW implementation
- Responsible for conducting daily site safety observations and entering observations in MAXIMO
- Responsible for reporting any site safety and process incidents to site leadership, OAS and OTLS when requested to enter incidents in MAXIMO
- Responsible for conducting permit/HITRA/isolation audits as agreed and assigned by the OAS or OTLS
- Assisting the OA with operations project planning and preparation activities
- Assisting and supporting the OA with the day-to-day management of product quality, carrying out investigations, supporting incident investigations information gathering when requested and implementing interventions
- Assisting and supporting the OA by providing detailed information on equipment, construction and installation including COW, assisting with the development of procedures for commissioning and operations and operator training support
- Support OAS with updates or development of standard operating procedures for plant and equipment operation communicate procedures to site teams and coach in compliant use
- Assisting the OA with operations training & field-based assessments e.g. AIP (energy isolation training), process modules training
- Submit daily reports to SES, OAS and OTLS using the template provided
- Provide information and fill out the relevant section of the site's weekly performance dashboard
- Assist the OA and operations team leaders (OTLS) in the safe and efficient management of plant and equipment
- Collaborate with COW coaches and work safely to ensure compliance and conduct audits of COW and work safe systems for station teams
- Foster the development of operational organizational capability by providing daily coaching and mentoring to key shift team personnel in core operational activities
- Measure success through the achievements of others enabled by the ops coordinator’s support
- The ops coordinator is field-based and will visit designated sites daily, spending most of the day in the field
- Field activities are categorized into two main areas: core operational deliverables and ensuring the safety of site-related activities
Requirements
- Above 5 Years’ experience in the Oil & Gas industry (Preferable with IOC’s direct or contract)
- Minimum Technical HNC certificate in oil/gas discipline role
- Good English language proficiency spoken and written
- Practical exposure to production facilities
- Practical exposure and understanding of the control of work
- Good IT skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams etc.)
- Ability to identify and assess safety hazards
- Leadership and influence Skills – engagement with multi-discipline and multi-cultural workforce
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Driven to deliver continuous improvement
- Strong bias for being proactive and getting results
- Good understanding of operations discipline
