JOB PURPOSE
The position’s main objective to improve Road safety and increase awareness of safe transport operations through effective leadership, behavior change, contractor involvement, key observation techniques, monitoring, reporting and enforcement of the Road Safety Standards, Policies, Procedures and Rules. Support the company’s Road and Traffic safety activities and ensure compliance with Iraqi Road and Traffic Safety Regulations and MFD HSSE regulations adopted in the Road Safety (Life Saving Rules, other international standards & best practices). Implement risk controls for managing Road Safety performance through work procedures and provide training and awareness on Road Safety matters to employees of the MFD.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Road safety assistant ranger is an individual with strong interpersonal skills and emotional stability
- Adherence to all MFD HSSE procedures and the MFD Code of conduct is a condition of employment Any intentional or repeated non-compliance with company MFD regulations may lead to termination
- Ability to work in a diverse environment in which cultural differences and conflicting objectives may compete for attention
- Gaining the trust and support of Contractors and Drivers to change driver behavior
- Be able to work with a local employee and provide coaching & training to field drivers in a constructive and productive manner
- Possess good communication skills to intervene or respond to any unsafe driving behavior within the field
- Must be motivated and a self-starter with leadership abilities and a "CAN DO" attitude
- Promote the adoption and adherence to international HSE standards, performance and attitudes, and achievement of HSE standards
- Provide full support to the Road Safety supervisor concerning Operational Road Safety requirements such as:
- Daily traffic control and vehicle inspections on the Road safety static and mobile checkpoints
- Providing an escort to oversize equipment and non-compliant vehicles
- Conducting speed checks to monitor drivers’ compliance with speed limits in the field
- Focal point for Contractors Journey managers and the drivers to deliver any required consultation or training regarding the Road safety such as monthly and seasonal road safety campaigns
- Stop and intervene in any road safety activity that does not comply with Iraqi road traffic requirements and MFD HSSE standards and work with line management to resolve or mitigate the exposures
- Stop and inspect vehicles that drive on field roads to ensure vehicle and driver compliance with MFD Journey management procedure and vehicle specification requirements
- Coach, train and consult all drivers in the field and contractor journey managers according to Iraqi road traffic and MFD Journey management requirements
REQUIREMENTS
- College or Higher professional education in transportation & logistics, traffic safety, HSE, law, and any mechanical engineering disciplines
- Strong knowledge of the Iraqi and International Traffic safety regulations
- At least 3 years of proven driving experience (light vehicles or heavy goods vehicles)
- Fluency in English and Arabic is a must
- At least 3 years of work experience in the oil and gas industries, logistics, land transportation, road traffic controlling authorities, or military service
- Minimum computer skills in wordxls, ppt, emails
